CMI Attends National Archives RACO Conference 2009

Alexandria, VA – May 29, 2008
CMI representatives joined government records officials and other industry participants at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) 21st Annual Records Administration Conference. More than twelve agency practitioners and NARA employees shared experiences about this year’s conference theme, "Collaborating Across Boundaries: Government Records and Social Media."
The program focused on using social media to collaborate and communicate, developing policy and social guidance for applying structure to social media, and discussing the records management implication of the use of social media tools. These issues are particularly relevant as the current Administration seeks to implement its commitment to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government.
"I was overwhelmed by the upcoming records management challenges that these government agencies face as they implement the Web 2.0 social technologies such as Twitter, YouTube and wikis", noted Monica McMillan, CMI Management. "While there were many more questions than answers, I am confident that through continued dialogue within the government community and with private industry, agencies can overcome the existing and future records management hurdles."
