CMI Project Manager Achieves LEED Green Certification

Geoffrey Gollotte, CMI Management’s Project Manager at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi, passed the LEED Green exam on July 26, 2011. The LEED Green accreditation is issued by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to individuals who prove their ability to understand and support green design, construction, and operations.

“Anytime you can increase your knowledge in an area such as LEED, it can only improve your performance in and understanding of the importance of conserving energy, materials, and resources,” says Gollotte. “You hear the phrase ‘going green,’ but until you really peel back the layers of the process to go green, you can’t begin to understand the benefits.”

He envisions a time in the near future when the Federal Government, and other customers, will require contractors to have LEED-certified management. The steps Gollotte and other CMI employees are taking to increase their understanding of energy and “going green” helps position CMI to increase the value we offer our customers, now and in the future, as we work to continue exceeding our customer’s expectations..
